Margot Robbie’s upcoming film, “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” is slated for release in 2025. Announced by Sony Pictures on May 9, just in time for Mother’s Day weekend, the movie is positioned as the studio’s “next female event film” following the success of “It Ends With Us,” a Blake Lively-led adaptation that has earned $63 million domestically and $93 million worldwide within its first six days.
The film features Colin Farrell alongside Robbie and is described as a “fantastical story about two strangers embarking on a profound emotional journey.” Additional cast members include Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Hamish Linklater.
Kogonada, known for “Pachinko” and “After Yang,” is directed from a script by Seth Reiss, the writer behind “The Menu.” Financing is provided by 30West, with Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Ryan Friedkin producing alongside Reiss and Youree Henley.
Kogonada, Ilene Feldman, and Ori Eisen are on board as executive producers. Sony Pictures won a competitive bidding process for the film in February, with motion picture group chairman Tom Rothman hailing it as “a project from heaven.”
Rothman expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Occasionally, a script so unique and inspiring comes along that it leaves you exhilarated by the end. We’re thrilled to bring something truly original to audiences and are grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.”
