Angela Bassett was honored for her extensive contributions to Disney over thirty years, including her work in Touchstone’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” her narration in National Geographic’s “The Flood,” and her role in Disney+’s “The Imagineering Story.”

Her recent acclaim for portraying Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was highlighted by Ryan Coogler, director of “Black Panther,” who praised her enduring impact. “Her presence has been a gift, especially in guiding our cast through Chadwick Boseman’s loss,” Coogler remarked.

Bassett expressed her gratitude, stating, “From the start of my acting career, I’ve felt part of something larger than myself. I’m deeply thankful for the support I’ve received and proud of my roles as a wife, mother, sister, and aunt.”

James Cameron, celebrated for his work on the “Avatar” series and numerous documentaries with National Geographic, was another honoree. His latest “Avatar” film is in post-production, with additional entries planned. Kate Winslet praised Cameron’s creativity in a video message, while Zoe Saldana humorously acknowledged the job security Cameron provided through his films.

Cameron emphasized the collaborative nature of filmmaking, crediting his team’s artistic contributions. He also paid tribute to his late producing partner, Jon Landau, reflecting on their 30-year partnership.

The ceremony’s host, Ryan Seacrest, presented the Disney Legend award to Kelly Ripa, commending her storytelling prowess. Ripa, known for her work on “Live” and her roles in “All My Children” and “Hope & Faith,” humorously acknowledged Seacrest’s hosting skills and shared lighthearted anecdotes about her family.

Bassett, Cameron, and Ripa were joined by other Disney Legends, including Jamie Lee Curtis, James L. Brooks, Harrison Ford, Frank Oz, John Williams, Miley Cyrus, Colleen Atwood, Martha Blanding, Steve Ditko, Mark Henn, and Joe Rohde.

The ceremony featured memorable moments, such as introductions by Lindsay Lohan and Jodie Foster, Cyrus’s tribute to “Hannah Montana,” and Ford’s poignant acceptance speech.
