Tommy Wirkola, director of “Violent Night,” is gearing up for his next project, a shark thriller now titled “Beneath the Storm.” Scheduled for theatrical release on August 1, 2025, the film will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.
The movie, penned by Wirkola himself, features a cast including Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton,” “Fair Play”), Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl,” “Hocus Pocus 2”), and Djimon Hounsou (“Rebel Moon,” “A Quiet Place: Day One”). Adam McKay and Kevin Messick are producing, though specific plot details are still being kept secret.
Wirkola’s previous work includes “Dead Snow,” “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,” and “What Happened to Monday.” Phoebe Dynevor, celebrated for her role as Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix’s “Bridgerton,” has also been featured in “The Colour Room,” “Bank of Dave,” and “Fair Play.” She earned a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination in 2024 and will soon appear in Neil Burger’s spy thriller “Inheritance” and the Diane Lane-led drama “Anniversary.”
Whitney Peak, known for her role in the reboot of “Gossip Girl” and her appearances in “Hocus Pocus 2” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” will next be seen in “Trap House” with Dave Bautista, Sophia Lillis, Jack Champion, and Bobby Cannavale.
Djimon Hounsou, recently seen in “A Quiet Place: Day One” and Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon” series, has been nominated for Oscars for “In America” and “Blood Diamond.” His upcoming projects include the survival thriller “Last Breath,” starring Simu Liu and Woody Harrelson.
