Don’t count on seeing Taylor Swift donning her cardigan at a fall wedding anytime soon.
Travis Kelce made his views on wedding seasons unmistakably clear during the Wednesday, Jan. 8 episode of his New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.
When a caller posed a question about the idea of a fall wedding potentially clashing with football season, the Kelce brothers—Travis, 35, and Jason, 37—offered differing opinions on the matter.
“I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed. “Because all the weddings I’ve been to and all my friends always do it in the summer.”
Travis then playfully suggested that the caller and his girlfriend find a middle ground, advising, “You gotta be willing to find a weekend where the team isn’t playing anybody good maybe.”
He added, “Also, if you really do have a problem with that, maybe it’s in her best interest to not have it in the fall so that she knows you’re invested in the anniversary every time it comes around. I think you guys should duke that out.”
The NFL star—who has been dating Taylor Swift since 2023—eventually made it clear that he doesn’t consider fall an ideal time for weddings.
“I’ve seen weddings in f–king February. I’ve seen weddings everywhere but the fall,” Travis remarked. “So I’m not sure if the fall was a good wedding season.”
Jason, who tied the knot with Kylie Kelce in 2018, had a contrasting perspective. He argued that any groom should prioritize his bride over sports.
“Brother, I’m gonna tell you right now. Do the fall and the wedding and avoid this frivolous fight that means absolutely f–king nothing,” the former Philadelphia Eagles center advised the caller.
“You can watch the football game another [time], like, record it and watch it again.
Like, I don’t know what you want me to say. There’s certain things that are more important than football, and if the wedding isn’t more important than football, we got some bigger issues here.”
Travis, however, remained resolute in his anti-fall sentiment, saying, “Don’t make my friends have to not go.
Everybody’s got season tickets. Alright? Don’t make my friends have to choose whether or not they have to sell their tickets that week.”
Jason, who is eagerly anticipating the arrival of his fourth child, struggled to see Travis’s point of view, countering, “There’s a lot more important things than football, and weddings happen to be one of them.
And not arguing with your wife is high up there with more important than football. So I would just do the wedding whenever she wants to, because that’s kinda your job now.”
To cap off the discussion, Travis jokingly doubled down on his stance by quoting Ted Lasso’s Dani Rojas, exclaiming: “Football is life!”
