Rachel Zegler, who stars as the new Snow White, and Gal Gadot, who portrays the Evil Queen, took the stage at D23 to engage with the audience. Zegler expressed how playing Snow White has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

She remarked on the joy of embodying a Disney princess, describing it as a dream come true for any young girl. Gadot, on the other hand, shared her excitement about playing the Evil Queen, noting that it was a departure from her usual roles and that she relished portraying a character who is both wicked and enchanting.

A preview image had been previously released by Disney, showing Zegler as Snow White with her signature bob haircut, accompanied by the seven dwarfs. The film, directed by Marc Webb, offers a fresh take on the classic 1937 animated movie. The original story follows Snow White as she escapes her stepmother, the Evil Queen, who is envious of her beauty.

After failing to be killed by the Huntsman, Snow White finds refuge with seven dwarves, only to be poisoned by the Queen later. In the upcoming version, actors Ansu Kabia and Andrew Burnap join the cast, with the latter playing a new character named Jonathan. Alongside familiar songs, the film will introduce new music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

In a red carpet interview during the 2022 D23 Expo, Zegler and Gadot discussed how this adaptation of “Snow White” differs from the original. Zegler emphasized that her character is not focused on finding true love but is instead driven by a desire to become a leader, inspired by her late father.

Gadot expressed her gratitude for working with an amazing crew and her enjoyment of playing a character so different from herself. Originally scheduled for a March 22, 2024, release, the film has been postponed to March 21, 2025, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
