£35 Million Move for Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili Under Exploration by Liverpool

Liverpool are considering a £35 million move for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the possibility of him being loaned out if he joins the club. Though the 23-year-old Georgian is seen as a potential long-term investment, Liverpool currently do not require a new goalkeeper unless Caoimhin Kelleher departs.

Mamardashvili, whose contract with the LaLiga club runs until 2027, joined Valencia permanently in 2022 after a loan spell and has since established himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. He also played a key role in Georgia’s Euro 2024 campaign, helping them advance from Group F to the round of 16, including a 2-0 victory over Portugal.

Arne Slot’s team could pursue Mamardashvili for £35 million, viewing him as a future asset. However, any potential transfer depends on whether Caoimhin Kelleher, who impressed for Liverpool last season, remains at the club.

Kelleher stepped up during the 2023-24 season, especially after first-choice goalkeeper Alisson was sidelined with a hamstring injury, and his performances were crucial in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph.

Kelleher’s strong showing has attracted interest from European clubs, with Nottingham Forest’s Nuno Espirito Santo reportedly among his admirers. In other news, Brentford has officially signed Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho for £27.5 million.
