Liverpool are considering a £35 million move for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, with the possibility of him being loaned out if he joins the club. Though the 23-year-old Georgian is seen as a potential long-term investment, Liverpool currently do not require a new goalkeeper unless Caoimhin Kelleher departs.
Mamardashvili, whose contract with the LaLiga club runs until 2027, joined Valencia permanently in 2022 after a loan spell and has since established himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. He also played a key role in Georgia’s Euro 2024 campaign, helping them advance from Group F to the round of 16, including a 2-0 victory over Portugal.
Arne Slot’s team could pursue Mamardashvili for £35 million, viewing him as a future asset. However, any potential transfer depends on whether Caoimhin Kelleher, who impressed for Liverpool last season, remains at the club.
Kelleher stepped up during the 2023-24 season, especially after first-choice goalkeeper Alisson was sidelined with a hamstring injury, and his performances were crucial in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph.
