Disney has uncovered a sneak peek of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” showcasing behind-the-scenes footage featuring David Henrie, Janice LeAnn Brown, and executive producer and guest star Selena Gomez.
In the preview, Gomez reflects on the series’ origins, exclaiming, “This is where it all started. We’re home!”
The spinoff series centers on an adult Justin Russo (Henrie) who opts for a mundane life with his family Giada (Mimi Gianopulos), Roman (Alkaio Thiele), and Milo (Max Matenko). When Alex Russo (Gomez) arrives with Billie (Brown) seeking assistance, Justin must rekindle his magical abilities to guide the young wizard-in-training while balancing his daily life.
The footage showcases clips from the upcoming series, including Alex and Billie entering Justin’s home through a magical portal. Billie demonstrates her powers by making eggs cook themselves and conjuring a burrito.
David DeLuise, who portrayed the Russo family’s father Jerry in the original series, also appears in the preview and will reprise his role as a guest star. Taylor Cora joins the cast as Winter, Billie’s best friend.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas are the writers and executive producers of the show, alongside Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez, and Henrie. Andy Fickman, who directed and executive-produced the pilot, will also helm several episodes.
