Ford Mustang Mach-E Achieves EV Distance Milestone with 569-Mile Trip

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest distance driven by an electric vehicle on a single charge. On July 27, a team based in the UK, supported by fleet management company Webfleet, embarked on a journey that covered 569 miles and 3,379 feet in the electric SUV, accomplishing the task in a little over 24 hours.

This new achievement surpasses the previous record set by Zeekr’s autonomous division in September of the prior year, where they completed a 563.971-mile trip in Hangzhou, China.

The record-breaking attempt was thoroughly documented with independently verified evidence, including video footage, odometer readings, GPS tracking, and battery-level data, all provided by Webfleet. This meticulous documentation led Guinness World Records to officially acknowledge it as the longest single-charge journey by an electric car.

The vehicle chosen for this feat was the Mustang Mach-E Premium Extended Range, selected due to its efficient single-motor setup and substantial 91kWh battery. During the drive, the car achieved an impressive 6.25 miles per kilowatt hour, exceeding the official WLTP combined cycle rating of 3.8mpkWh for the Mach-E.

Interestingly, the vehicle continued to travel for an additional 21 miles even after the battery indicated 0% capacity.

Webfleet noted the contribution of the car’s smaller 18-inch wheels, which enhanced comfort during the lengthy drive. These wheels were paired with Bridgestone’s specially designed EV tires for maximum efficiency.

The record-setting journey took place on public roads across various regions, including Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Cambridgeshire, covering a range of road types to reflect real-world driving conditions.

The drivers, Kevin Booker and Sam Clarke, who are seasoned record-setters in fuel economy and EV efficiency, led this effort. They had previously set a similar record for electric vans with a 311-mile run in a Fiat E-Scudo.
