‘Daredevil: Born Again’ First Look Highlights Punisher, Kingpin, and More; March Premiere Date Confirmed

Marvel presented the first footage for “Daredevil: Born Again” during Friday night’s D23 event in Anaheim, featuring Charlie Cox in his debut solo series since the original “Daredevil” on Netflix in the 2010s. The series is scheduled to premiere in March.

Returning to the cast are Charlie Cox as the blind lawyer-turned-crime fighter, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Wilson Bethel as Poindexter.

New additions include Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Jeremy Earl, and Ayelet Zurer, who replaces Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk. Cox, D’Onofrio, Bernthal, and Woll appeared at the panel to showcase the trailer, which has not yet been made available online. The footage highlighted the series’ intense violence, with Daredevil reflecting, “Somebody’s gotta protect the streets” and “New York is what it’s always been: Out for blood.”

Additionally, it was announced that the second season will begin filming soon.

The new series follows the three-season Netflix show created by Drew Goddard, which aired from 2015 to 2018. The series, along with “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” “The Defenders,” and “The Punisher,” transitioned from Netflix to Disney+ in 2022, becoming Disney+’s first mature TV content and introducing an age-restriction feature for younger viewers.

Originally conceived as Marvel’s first 18-episode series, “Daredevil: Born Again” was restructured to fit the standard episode count of Disney+ shows.

Since the end of the original Netflix series, Cox and D’Onofrio have appeared in other MCU projects. Cox had a brief cameo as Murdock in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” while D’Onofrio played a major role in “Hawkeye” and “Echo.” Cox also made appearances in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and briefly in “Echo.”
