During the D23 Expo on Friday, Marvel’s “Agatha All Along” cast revealed the second trailer for their “WandaVision” follow-up and delivered a live rendition of the show’s key song, “The Ballad of the Witches Road.”
Kathryn Hahn, reprising her role as the mischievous sorceress Agatha Harkness from “WandaVision,” took the stage at the Honda Center in Anaheim with co-stars Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp.
They performed the song, penned by Emmy and Oscar-winning duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who also appeared on stage. The song’s title references the mystical path described in the show’s logline as a “magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing.”
In “WandaVision,” Hahn’s character is initially introduced as Agnes, the curious neighbor in the town of Westview, which is trapped in a constantly shifting television reality. She later reveals her true identity as Agatha, an ancient witch with powerful abilities.
After a dramatic showdown in the “WandaVision” finale, Wanda takes Agatha’s powers and confines her within Westview as Agnes. In “Agatha All Along,” Locke’s character, Teen, frees Agatha from Wanda’s spell, leading her to form a coven and journey down the Witches Road to reclaim her magic.
Jac Schaeffer, the head writer for “WandaVision,” is also the executive producer and showrunner for “Agatha All Along,” which is set to premiere its first two episodes on Disney+ on September 18.
