Acura Gears Up for the Release of a Performance-Focused Electric SUV

Acura ZDX (Acura)

At last year’s Quail event in Monterey, Acura introduced the world to its sleek ZDX electric SUV and hinted at an electric sports car with strong NSX influences. Fast forward to this year, and Acura is preparing to uncover another electric vehicle, but details about this new model remain largely under wraps.

The automaker has released a single teaser image showcasing the rear end of what appears to be a stylish and streamlined vehicle.

This model features a distinctive taillight design, departing from the usual triangular lights seen on current Acura vehicles, opting instead for a flowing light bar that spans the width of the trunk lid. Below the light bar, the Acura logo is prominently displayed, and the vehicle is coated in a striking blue color.

Acura has revealed that this new SUV will be the brand’s first to be manufactured in Ohio, utilizing a newly developed, dedicated electric vehicle platform. However, this does not appear to be the Ultium platform.

It’s also unlikely to be the compact ADX, leading to speculation that it might be a more luxurious and possibly even coupe-styled SUV—something currently absent from Acura’s lineup. Acura describes the concept as a “performance” vehicle and hints that it will be a “segment-defying sport utility vehicle.”
