John Cena, who has transitioned from wrestling to Hollywood fame, announced at July’s Money in the Bank event that he will be retiring from active wrestling next year. During an energetic appearance in Canada, Cena told the crowd: “Thank you for allowing me to be part of this arena you helped build for so many years.”
Cena has revealed plans for a farewell tour set for 2025, aiming to participate in about 30 to 40 events throughout the year. This tour will likely include his final appearances at key WWE events such as Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and a final WrestleMania.
With numerous opportunities for memorable farewells, several potential opponents have surfaced. TNA star-turned WWE NXT standout Joe Hendry has expressed interest, and CM Punk has requested a chance to compete. Fans have even suggested a final match against long-time rival Randy Orton before the year ends.
However, Bron Breakker has directly challenged Cena. After claiming his first main roster WWE title at SummerSlam by defeating Sami Zayn, Breakker challenged Cena to a bout, emphasizing that Cena has never held the Intercontinental Championship. Breakker urged Cena to “come take it from me,” demonstrating his eagerness for the match.
Given Cena’s history of elevating emerging talent, a match with Breakker is plausible. Cena has previously helped boost the careers of rising stars like Austin Theory, who defeated Cena at WrestleMania, and Solo Sikoa, who also won against Cena in Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Breakker’s stock continues to rise as he recently captured the Intercontinental title from Zayn, marking another significant achievement in his WWE journey.
