Matt Damon Shares Thoughts on Whether Ocean’s 14 Will Be Made

Matt Damon (Warner Bros)

The Ocean’s trilogy was hugely successful in the 2000s, leading its stars to take a break from making more heist films within the same universe. The series was revived in 2018 with Ocean’s 8, but that film centered on a new team of women rather than bringing back the original cast. Now, Matt Damon is being asked whether the original Ocean’s crew, including actors like Brad Pitt and George Clooney, might reunite for another installment.

As Damon promotes his latest film, The Instigators, which also features Casey Affleck and is available on Apple TV+, the topic of the Ocean’s franchise has come up frequently in interviews. When speaking to ScreenRant about the possibility of an Ocean’s 14 in the future, Damon didn’t completely rule it out.

Ocean’s 14 Rumors Sparked by Matt Damon’s Willingness to Reunite with Original Cast (Warner Bros)

He indicated a willingness to return, which is exciting for fans, especially since he’s a key figure in the beloved heist films. However, convincing Brad Pitt might be more challenging. Pitt previously expressed reluctance about doing an Ocean’s 14, joking that his financial situation would have to be dire for him to agree. Yet, with Pitt and George Clooney enjoying their recent collaboration on Wolves, there might be hope for a change of heart.

Don Cheadle has also weighed in on the possibility of Ocean’s 14, mentioning that there have been discussions over the years, though nothing concrete has materialized. Coordinating the schedules of such high-profile stars is a serious obstacle.

Still, the cast has fond memories of their time together and the camaraderie they shared on set. If Steven Soderbergh can craft another stellar script, the project might gain momentum, and the original cast could reunite. While Hollywood seems to be shifting away from the original crew, with a prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in development, there may still be opportunities for the original stars to make cameo appearances. Even if it’s not a full Ocean’s 14, seeing Damon and the team back in action, even briefly, would be a treat for fans.

It could be some time before another Ocean’s film makes it to the big screen, if it happens at all. In the meantime, fans can revisit the iconic Ocean’s trilogy by renting them on Amazon.
