Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” maintained its dominance at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second consecutive week, cutting through the competition with ease.

Over the weekend, the superhero film grossed £8 million ($10.1 million), raising its total earnings to £33.4 million ($42.4 million), according to Comscore. This success positions it as the third highest-grossing film of 2024 in these territories, following “Inside Out 2” and “Dune: Part Two.”

Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” held onto the second spot, bringing in an additional £2.5 million, with its total now at £30.8 million after four weeks. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ “Twisters” remained in the top three, adding £1.1 million in its third week, reaching a cumulative total of £10.1 million. Disney’s “Inside Out 2” continued to show strong performance, securing the fourth position with £939,144 in its eighth week, totaling £52.2 million. The new entry, Sony’s “Harold and the Purple Crayon,” debuted at fifth place with an opening of £641,548.

Other remarkable performances included a re-release of “Spider-Man,” which ranked seventh with £253,260, and the Blackpink concert film “Blackpink World Tour (Born Pink) in Cinemas,” debuting at ninth place with £93,518. With a variety of new films set to debut on Friday, Aug. 9, the box office competition is set to intensify.

Among the upcoming releases, Warner Bros.’ thriller “Trap,” featuring Josh Hartnett, and Sony’s romantic drama “It Ends With Us,” starring Blake Lively, are highly anticipated. Sci-fi action enthusiasts can look forward to Lionsgate’s “Borderlands,” while Apple Original Films will release Doug Liman’s comedy “The Instigators.”

For indie film lovers, Altitude’s “Radical” and BFI Distribution’s “Sky Peals” offer compelling options, while younger audiences can enjoy “Gracie and Pedro: Mission Impossible” and “Bluey At The Cinema: Family Trip Collection.” Additionally, Vertigo’s “Caligula: The Ultimate Cut” and other releases like “Duchess” and “Babes” will round out the weekend.
