In Thailand, the Chery Omoda E5 has debuted under the name Omoda C5 EV. As Chery vehicles aren’t officially available in Thailand, this electric SUV is simply branded as Omoda. The C5 comes in two versions: the Long Range Plus priced at 899,000 baht (RM113,193) and the Long Range Ultimate at 949,000 baht (RM119,488).
The vehicle features a single powertrain option, comprising a front-mounted electric motor that produces 204 PS (150 kW) and 340 Nm of torque. This setup enables the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, with a top speed of 172 km/h. Its 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, supplied by BYD, offers a range of 430 km according to the WLTP cycle, with a claimed energy consumption of 15.5 kWh per 100 km.
Charging capabilities include a three-phase onboard AC charger with a maximum rate of 9.9 kW and DC fast charging up to 80 kW. The DC charger can boost the battery from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes. Additionally, the C5 features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that provides up to 3.3 kW for powering appliances, useful for camping or emergencies.
The C5’s standard equipment mirrors the Omoda E5, including automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, powered tailgate, auto wipers, defogging side mirrors, remote windows, 18-inch wheels, ventilated electric front seats, synthetic leather, dual-zone climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, wireless charger, and head-up display. It also boasts two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument panel and infotainment system, with a reverse camera and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, supported by six speakers.
The Long Range Ultimate variant adds features such as sequential rear turn signals, acoustic front windows, rear privacy glass, a sunroof, puddle lamps, roof rails, a V2L cable, a 540-degree surround view camera, and eight Sony speakers. This higher-spec model parallels the Omoda E5, which costs RM146,800 without insurance.
Thai buyers receive an eight-year or 200,000 km warranty for the vehicle, drivetrain, and battery, along with five years of roadside assistance, a year of free insurance, and a complimentary wallbox charger with installation.
