In addition to uncovering its July 2024 sales figures, Proton has emphasized the strong performance of the 2024 X50 RC, which secured its position as the second best-selling vehicle, following the popular Saga. During its initial full month of availability, the refreshed B-segment SUV achieved 2,585 sales, marking its best performance in 2024 and solidifying its leading role in its segment.
This impressive number contributes to the nearly 120,000 X50 units sold since the model’s debut in October 2020, keeping it as Malaysia’s fastest-selling SUV. Proton asserts that, despite facing competition from Japanese and Chinese brands, the X50 captured a 10.3% market share among SUVs from January to July, surpassing its competitors.
The company highlights that the X50 has broad appeal, with sales evenly split between male and female buyers and 60% of purchasers aged between 26 and 50. Customers have noted that the X50 is well-suited for both singles and young families.
Proton’s deputy CEO, Roslan Abdullah, remarked, “The July sales performance of the 2024 Proton X50 reflects the dedication of our team who carefully considered customer feedback. The model’s combination of performance, safety, and connectivity continues to meet customer expectations. Additionally, local production enhancements and customer-focused updates have kept the Proton X50 at the forefront.”
The RC model, which stands for “running change,” retains the original’s look but includes several upgrades to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). New features include a faster-booting 10.25-inch touchscreen and a seven-inch digital instrument display as standard. Premium and Flagship variants now also come with a higher-definition 360-degree camera system and a powered tailgate, previously an optional extra.
