Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming feature is drawing interest from Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
A24 is backing Borgli’s film, “The Drama,” which is produced by Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen’s Square Peg production company. Zendaya and Pattinson are in the early stages of discussions for the lead roles in this project. Borgli, known for writing and directing A24’s “Dream Scenario” featuring Nicolas Cage, is set to direct this new film.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, “The Drama” is expected to explore a couple’s romance that undergoes serious changes leading up to their wedding. Aster, Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone are producing under Square Peg.
A24 and Square Peg have previously collaborated on projects like the upcoming “Death of a Unicorn,” featuring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, and Aster’s “Eddington,” starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, and Austin Butler. Their joint ventures also include “Dream Scenario,” “Hereditary,” and “Midsommar.”
Zendaya, a two-time Emmy winner for her role in HBO’s “Euphoria,” is gaining further prominence with her roles in the 2024 films “Challengers” and “Dune: Part Two.” Pattinson, known for his role in “The Batman,” will appear alongside Steven Yeun and Mark Ruffalo in Bong Joon Ho’s “Mickey 17,” set for an early next year release.
He is also slated for Parker Finn’s remake of the 1981 horror film “Possession.” Borgli’s “Dream Scenario,” which premiered in November, earned Cage a Golden Globe nomination and also featured Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, and Tim Meadows.
