Geometry Xingyuan Revealed – 500 km Range, Flyme Auto Infotainment, Possible Proton eMas 5?

Details about the Geometry Xingyuan EV have surfaced on the Chinese automotive site PC Auto, following its initial appearance on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website three weeks ago. This vehicle, set to rival the BYD Dolphin, is expected to share numerous components with other Geely Group electric vehicles, including the newly launched Geely Galaxy E5.

Although the platform for the Xingyuan hasn’t been officially confirmed, it’s likely to utilize the Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) like the E5. This could mean the Xingyuan will feature the same “11-in-1” electric motor, Aegis “short blade” lithium iron phosphate battery cells, Flyme Auto infotainment system, and independent suspension on all variants (unlike the Dolphin, which uses a torsion beam rear axle on entry-level models).

The vehicle will be available in two variants, offering power outputs of 79 PS (58 kW) and 116 PS (85 kW). It’s expected to have a range exceeding 500 km, similar to the Galaxy E5. However, a recent MIIT filing indicates a shorter range of 310 km and 410 km based on available battery capacities of 30.12 and 40.16 kWh.

The Xingyuan measures 4,135 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, making it shorter, narrower, and lower than the Galaxy E5, with a wheelbase that is also 100 mm shorter. Compared to the BYD Dolphin, it is 155 mm shorter, 35 mm wider, and has a wheelbase that is 50 mm shorter.

There is speculation that the Xingyuan could be the next model under Proton’s eMas EV sub-brand, following the Galaxy E5-based eMas 7. Proton has hinted at a small hatchback/SUV with a side profile resembling the Xingyuan. If Proton continues its alphanumeric model naming strategy, similar to its internal combustion engine lineup, the vehicle could potentially be named the eMas 5, aligning with the size of the X50.
