Scottish Clubs Uncover Possible Matchups in European Competitions

Hearts will face either Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih or Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League play-off. In the Conference League play-off, Kilmarnock could meet Copenhagen or Banik Ostrava if they advance past Tromso, while St Mirren would play against Corvinul Hunedoara or Astana if they overcome Brann.

On Tuesday, Dynamo and Rangers will clash in the first leg of their third qualifying round in Lublin, Poland, where Kyiv is based due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The return match will be held at Hampden, as Ibrox is currently undergoing renovations.

Salzburg, the Austrian Bundesliga runners-up, will host Dutch team Twente, who finished third in the Eredivisie last season, in Tuesday’s first leg. The return fixture will occur the following Tuesday.

Rangers, slated to be the home team for the first leg on August 21 or 22, recently transferred Sam Lammers to Twente while acquiring Robin Propper from the same club. The second leg will be held the subsequent midweek.

The draw for the newly structured Champions League, which will include Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, is set for August 29, with the first set of matches beginning in mid-September.

Hearts will play away first on August 22 against either Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, who are competing in Slovakia, or Czech team Viktoria Plzen. The return leg at Tynecastle will take place a week later.

Both potential opponents, like Hearts, finished third in their respective leagues last season, with Plzen also being runners-up in the Czech Cup. They will face off over the next two Thursdays, with the second leg in Plzen.

Should Hearts win, they will progress to the league phase; a defeat would see them enter the Conference League group stage.
