Biles Triumphs with 4 Medals, Surpassing Expectations at Paris Olympics

Simone Biles further solidified her dominance in gymnastics, adding to the impressive legacy she has built over the past eight years. At the Paris Olympics, Biles secured a silver medal in the floor exercise, narrowly missing gold due to a minor misstep.

A fall on the balance beam cost her a podium finish, yet she still concluded the Games with four medals. Biles claimed gold in the team final, all-around, and vault events, showcasing a performance far superior to her showing at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Biles now has the highest count of Olympic medals for an American gymnast (Team USA)

Reflecting on her accomplishments, Biles expressed pride, saying, “At 27, I’m leaving these Games with four more medals for my collection. No complaints.” There was a moment of concern when Biles tweaked her calf during warmups, but she persevered and competed in all necessary events for her team.

Leading a squad featuring Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera, Biles helped secure a team gold with a score of 171.296, nearly six points ahead of Italy. In the all-around, Biles scored 59.131, defeating Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade and teammate Lee.

Her vault performance earned her a second career gold in the event, scoring 15.300 to surpass Andrade and Carey. Although the balance beam didn’t go as planned, Biles secured silver on the floor, with Chiles finishing closely behind.

Biles now boasts 11 Olympic medals, the most by any American gymnast. She is tied for second place all-time with Věra Čáslavská of former Czechoslovakia and is just seven medals shy of the Soviet Union’s Larisa Latynina.
