Jonathan Majors Saddened by Marvel’s Decision to Cast Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Avengers’ and Shift Away from Kang

Jonathan Majors has expressed his reaction to Marvel Studios’ recent revelation that Robert Downey Jr. will be reprising his role as Dr. Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This update was uncovered at San Diego Comic-Con and also confirmed the cancellation of Avengers: Kang Dynasty, which was set to center around Majors’ character introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

In response to TMZ’s query about his feelings regarding Marvel’s shift away from his character, Majors admitted his disappointment. “Yeah, heartbroken. Of course,” he said, although he acknowledged his admiration for Kang and expressed an interest in Dr. Doom as well.

The TMZ reporter highlighted that despite their past legal issues, both Downey Jr. and Ezra Miller at DC Studios have been given opportunities to continue their roles.

Majors commented on this, stating, “I think it’s fair that Mr. Downey is being and has been greeted with patience and curiosity and love, and that Mr. Miller has gotten the same treatment. And that they’re being allowed to work their art and be creative at that level… I didn’t get that.”

When asked about the possibility of returning to the MCU as Kang, Majors enthusiastically responded, “Hell yeah! Hell yeah! Hell yeah! I love him. I love Kang. If that’s what the fans want, if that’s what Marvel wants, then let’s roll. Hell yeah.”

Majors faced legal troubles in March 2023, with assault and harassment charges filed by his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. He was found guilty on two misdemeanor counts and received probation along with a one-year domestic violence treatment program.
