MLB Insider Suggests Luis Robert and Garrett Crochet Could Be Dealt Together

Trade rumors surrounding the Chicago White Sox are heating up, with discussions suggesting that two of their most valuable assets could be moved in a single blockbuster deal.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers have been in talks with the White Sox about a potential trade involving starting pitcher Garrett Crochet, outfielder Luis Robert Jr., and possibly even reliever Michael Kopech.

Luis Robert (Chicago White Sox)

Although details on the progress of these discussions and the specifics of what prospects might return to Chicago remain unclear, it’s expected that such a major trade would yield a substantial return. Crochet is currently regarded as one of the top pitchers available on the trade market.

Despite some concerns about his increased workload this season, he has delivered a solid performance with a 6-6 record, a 3.02 ERA, and 150 strikeouts over 107 innings, contributing a 4.0 WAR.

He is under team control for the next two seasons before hitting free agency at the end of the 2026 season. Luis Robert Jr. has had a somewhat inconsistent season, struggling with injuries and failing to maintain his usual power.

Despite this, he has managed 11 home runs and 11 stolen bases, with a slash line of .232/.310/.482. Robert has one year remaining on his current deal, followed by two club options for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The possibility of moving both Crochet and Robert in the same trade offers the White Sox a chance to quickly enhance their farm system, given the Dodgers’ reputation for developing top-tier talent from their minor leagues.

With Crochet expected to make two more starts before the July 30 deadline, his next outing will be against the Texas Rangers in Arlington.
