Former World No. 1s Yin and Thitikul Take Joint Lead in Dow Championship

Ruoning Yin and Atthaya Thitikul, two golfing powerhouses who have both held the number one ranking, joined forces to dominate the opening round of the Dow Championship.

Their scorching 6-under 64 in foursomes was a masterclass in teamwork, with six birdies on the outward nine setting the tone for a thrilling round.

Yin attributed their success to Thitikul’s sizzling putting, saying “her putter was so hot, you didn’t want to touch it!” Ewing and Kupcho, Solheim Cup teammates, matched their score, as did the Thai duo of Wannasaen and Boonchant.

The tournament, the only official team event on the LPGA Tour schedule, saw several teams post impressive scores, with Thompson and Henderson among those lurking just one shot behind.

The second round features fourballs, a format that typically yields even lower scores. Yin and Thitikul’s partnership was a force to be reckoned with, their chemistry and skill combining to devastating effect. They played bogey-free golf, with Yin’s precise shots setting up Thitikul’s deadly putting.

Their impressive performance has set the bar high for the rest of the field, and they will be looking to maintain their momentum in the second round. With their combined talent and teamwork, they are a formidable force to be reckoned with.

The Dow Championship is shaping up to be a thrilling tournament, with several teams in contention for the top spot. As the players head into the second round, fans can expect more exciting golf and intense competition. Will Yin and Thitikul continue to dominate, or will another team rise to the challenge? The battle for the Dow Championship title has only just begun.
