Locarno Film Festival to Recognize the Contributions of Ben Burtt, Sound Designer for the ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ Franchises

The Locarno Film Festival is poised to honor the remarkable Ben Burtt, a visionary sound designer, editor, and voice actor, with its esteemed lifetime achievement award, the Vision Award Ticinomoda. Burtt’s groundbreaking work on the iconic “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” franchises has left an enduring impact on the cinematic landscape.

His innovative approach to sound design has crafted some of the most recognizable and beloved sound effects in film history, including the distinctive hum of the lightsaber, Darth Vader’s ominous breathing, R2D2’s endearing beeps, and the infamous Wilhelm Scream.
