IATSE and Studios Strike a Deal on New Contract

The IATSE union and studios have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, averting the possibility of another “Hot Labor Summer” in Hollywood.

The deal, announced on Tuesday evening, comes just two days into renewed talks between the parties. IATSE leaders have notified their members across 13 Locals in Hollywood, highlighting key gains in the agreement.

The new contract includes wage increases, protections against AI exploitation, enhanced pension and health plans, and strengthened safety measures and crew well-being provisions, including increased penalties for extended workdays. These gains demonstrate the union’s commitment to prioritizing its members’ needs and well-being.

The agreement covers approximately 50,000 members of the 13 West Coast Locals, with a separate Area Standards Agreement still being negotiated for 23 Locals nationwide, representing 20,000 members.
