Since Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard, people have been wondering which old game series might come back to Xbox. Fans are hoping for favorites like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, and Guitar Hero. There’s also interest in reviving Activision’s Transformers games. The main question is whether fans want to see these Transformers games make a return.
The discussion is timely as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the conclusion of the ‘War for Cybertron’ series, marked by the release of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. Although Transformers: Devastation followed a year later, it has been a decade since the last traditional Transformers game from Activision. Fans of the series have been longing for a return to these types of games.
Despite Rise of the Dark Spark not being as well-received as its predecessors in the War for Cybertron series, there remains a strong fan base with fond memories of the games. A revival of the Transformers franchise under Activision Blizzard would be welcomed, especially if it diversifies the offerings available on Xbox. It would provide a nostalgic appeal and fresh content for the platform.
One significant issue is the availability of these older Transformers titles. Currently, none of the Activision Transformers games are available digitally, nor are they backward compatible or on Xbox Game Pass. While securing the rights to re-release these games might be challenging, it would be worthwhile to make them accessible to fans once again, potentially enhancing the Xbox Game Pass library.
As fans eagerly anticipate a comprehensive Activision Blizzard drop on Xbox Game Pass, there’s hope that the team is also working on making older titles compatible with modern platforms. Given the effort developers put into these games, it would be gratifying to see Xbox revive the Transformers series, ensuring these beloved titles are not forgotten and can be enjoyed by new and old fans alike.
