The game was a highly anticipated matchup between two of the top rookies in the WNBA, with a sold-out crowd and celebrities in attendance. The atmosphere was electric, with Reese and Clark putting on a show. Reese’s performance was particularly impressive, as she scored 15 points and grabbed five field goals in the final 11:25, leading the Sky to a 31-15 run that sealed the win.

Clark acknowledged Reese’s skills, saying “She ran really well in transition…she played a really great game.” Reese downplayed the rivalry between the two teams, but acknowledged the importance of the game, saying “It’s good for the game, good for women’s basketball, but also good for women’s sports.”

The game was a milestone moment for women’s basketball, with a sold-out crowd and a thrilling performance from both teams. Despite the loss, Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell agreed that the atmosphere was special, saying “Today was a really good moment to be a part of…the atmosphere, the media, the fans, your family, the young kids, I think this was a good atmosphere for us.”

The Sky’s win snapped the Fever’s four-game winning streak and marked a turning point for the team after a four-game losing streak. Reese acknowledged the hard work and conversations that went into the turnaround, saying “Everybody looked in the mirror and figured out what to do to get better. It doesn’t stop here, two-game win streak, we gotta keep going.”
