Inside Austin Butler’s Dinner Party with Snoop Dogg and Robert De Niro

Austin Butler shared the story behind his viral dinner with Snoop Dogg and Robert De Niro on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The unexpected gathering took place in March at Snoop’s Malibu residence and was originally documented by Snoop’s son, Cordell Broadus. When Kimmel displayed a photo from the dinner, he asked Butler about the event.

Butler explained, “A mutual friend invited me over for tacos with Snoop Dogg and Robert De Niro. I dropped everything to be there.” The photo also featured De Niro’s small dog, Snoopy.

Kimmel humorously asked if Snoopy also indulged in marijuana, to which Butler replied, “I think he might have been indulging.” Butler admitted that Snoop offered him marijuana, but he declined, fearing it would make him too nervous to converse with his hero, De Niro.

Kimmel then shared his own memorable experience with Snoop, recalling a time when he indulged in marijuana at Snoop’s house and overheard Snoop remarking on his hearty appetite for chicken.

Butler is currently promoting his upcoming film, The Bikeriders, a crime thriller inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1967 photo book about the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. Directed by Jeff Nichols, the film features a star-studded cast including Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus.

At the Los Angeles premiere of The Bikeriders, Butler revealed he had a motorcycle accident on set. He described the incident, saying, “We were doing a night shoot, hit a patch of wet leaves, and I went down. Thankfully, I landed on my feet. All I was thinking about was the bike, making sure it was okay.”

The film is generating buzz not just for its storyline and cast, but also for Butler’s dedication, as he navigated the physical demands of the role.
