Don Omar, Rapper and Actor, Reveals He Has Cancer: ‘#f—cancer’

William Omar Landrón Rivera, better known as rapper and actor Don Omar, recently shared some personal news with his fans. On Monday, the Puerto Rican star posted a picture of himself wearing a hospital bracelet on social media.

His caption, written in Spanish, translates to: “Today yes, but tomorrow I won’t have cancer. Good intentions are well received. See you soon. #f—cancer.”

Don Omar, 46, is currently taking a break from his Back to Reggaeton tour, which is set to resume in August with a performance in Oakland, California. The tour will continue across the U.S. and Canada, with stops in cities including Boston, Denver, and Toronto, concluding on September 15.

Over his two-decade career, Don Omar has released eight albums and has been nominated for 13 Latin Grammy Awards, winning two.

In addition to his music career, he is known for his role as Rico Santos in the Fast & Furious franchise, appearing in Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), The Fate of the Furious (2017), and F9 (2021).

The artist did not provide further details about his health in his post, and his representative has not yet responded to requests for additional comments.

PEOPLE reported that the health update came just two days after Don Omar posted an Instagram Reel of dancers auditioning to join his tour. He expressed his gratitude and excitement for the upcoming stage of his tour, saying,

“The most special thing about today’s auditions is seeing that there are people who want to dare to dream with me. Thank you to each of you who gave your all on the dance floor! This second stage of the tour comes with everything.”

In December, Don Omar notably ended his long-standing feud with fellow musician Daddy Yankee, following the latter’s announcement of his retirement.
