In a thrilling Game 2 of the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics clinched a 105-98 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday evening, defending their home turf with a stellar performance.
Despite concerns about his recent absence due to injury, Kristaps Porzingis returned to the court for Game 1 of the NBA Finals and contributed significantly, tallying 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, and two blocks in 23 minutes of play during Game 2.
During the game, Porzingis appeared to suffer another injury scare, but Celtics’ head coach Joe Mazzulla alleviated any worries with a reassuring update post-victory, stating that Porzingis is in good shape and there’s no concern for Game 3.
Porzingis himself echoed Mazzulla’s sentiments, expressing optimism about his injury, indicating that he doesn’t believe it’s serious and will undergo further assessment, reaffirming his readiness for the upcoming games.
With this crucial win, the Celtics now hold a commanding 2-0 lead in the series, positioning themselves strongly as they head to Dallas for Games 3 and 4, with Porzingis proving to be a valuable asset in his inaugural NBA Finals appearance with Boston after an illustrious career spanning multiple teams.
