Aaron Judge Criticizes Fans for Wanting Soto, Praises Grisham’s Key Home Run

New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge expressed his displeasure at fans chanting for All-Star slugger Juan Soto to replace the struggling outfielder Trent Grisham during a game. Despite the chants, Grisham hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth inning, contributing to the Yankees’ 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Judge admitted he was unhappy about the chants but acknowledged the performance that followed.

Juan Soto, a favorite for the American League Most Valuable Player Award, missed the three-game series against the Dodgers due to forearm inflammation. While there was speculation he might be available off the bench, Soto was expected to return to play against the Kansas City Royals soon. Soto expressed his happiness for Grisham’s success, emphasizing the importance of contributions from everyone on the team.

Grisham, who had a .082 batting average at the time, hit a crucial home run in the sixth inning. His performance shifted the fans’ chants from “we want Soto” to “we want Grisham” later in the game, showcasing a change in their support. Grisham appreciated the fans’ support following his game-changing hit.

With the Yankees leading the AL East standings and Soto recovering, the team can afford to ensure he returns only when fully fit. Aaron Judge praised Grisham, calling him a remarkable player who delivered when it was crucial. This sentiment underscored the importance of every player’s contribution, even as the team manages injuries.

Despite losing two of the three games to the Dodgers without Soto, the Yankees remain strong contenders for the World Series. The team’s reliance on Soto for the postseason is evident, but Grisham’s performance has highlighted the depth and potential within the squad. The Yankees’ ability to adapt and utilize their entire roster will be critical for their success moving forward.
