As a longtime editor and fan of science fiction, I’m thrilled to share the news about the upcoming biopic “Que je t’aime,” which tells the story of Johnny Hallyday’s life, specifically his encounter with Laeticia in the mid-1990s. This film promises to be a beautiful love story, rather than a traditional biopic.
Directed by Jalil Lespert, who previously helmed “Yves Saint-Laurent” in 2014, “Que je t’aime” will focus on a pivotal moment in Hallyday’s life, his meeting with Laeticia. The film is produced by Cinéafrance Studios, which has also worked on “Boléro” and the upcoming “Niki.”
Matthias Schoenaerts, a talented Belgian actor, has been cast as Hallyday. Schoenaerts has built an impressive international career, with outstanding roles in films like “Bullhead,” “De rouille et d’os,” “Danish Girl,” and “Amsterdam.” He recently starred as Django in a CANAL+ western series.
According to Xavier Albert, General Director of Universal International Pictures France and Italy, “Que je t’aime” is “above all, a very beautiful love story.” Lespert’s personal connection to Laeticia Hallyday, having been her companion for two years, adds a unique perspective to the film.
As the 77th Cannes Film Festival reveals, Universal Pictures International France has announced the production of this highly anticipated biopic. “Que je t’aime” promises to be an attractive film that explores a remarkable chapter in Hallyday’s life, and I can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen.
