Documentary About Christopher Reeve Sets Us Release Date

The documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” is set to hit select US theaters on September 21, with an encore presentation on September 25, the late actor’s birthday.

The film, directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, premiered to critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival and has been acquired by DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films, and CNN Films.

The documentary tells the story of Reeve’s rise to fame as Superman, his life-altering accident, and his subsequent advocacy for disability rights and spinal cord research.

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios are partnering with Fathom Events to bring the film to theaters nationwide. Jeff Goldstein, President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, praised Reeve’s legacy, saying, “He made us all believe a man could fly, and this documentary reveals what made him a true hero, on- and off-screen.”

The documentary features intimate home movies, personal archive material, and interviews with Reeve’s children and A-list Hollywood actors who knew him.
