Andy Murray to Play Doubles at French Open with Daniel Evans, Receives Wild Card

Andy Murray and Daniel Evans have been given a wildcard entry to play together in the men’s doubles at the upcoming French Open, according to organizers’ announcement on Wednesday. This decision marks the first time in over two decades that a non-French pair has received a wildcard into the men’s doubles event at Roland Garros.

Murray, a three-time Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1, has recuperated from an ankle injury and is set to compete in both singles and doubles at the clay-court major. This appearance is anticipated to be his final outing at the French Open, as the 37-year-old Scotsman has indicated that he will likely retire after this summer.

Having undergone hip surgery in 2018, Murray has had limited participation in tournaments since then. He is a two-time Wimbledon champion and an Olympic gold medalist, and he aims to represent Britain once again at the Paris Games.

Murray’s return to the French Open comes after a four-year absence from the event, with his last appearance ending in a first-round defeat. His best performance at Roland Garros was as the runner-up in 2016.
