Iheanacho and Ndidi to Welcome Moroccan Teammate at Leicester City

Azzedine Ounahi, the talented Moroccan midfielder who shone at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, is poised to join Leicester City, potentially linking up with Super Eagles duo Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi. Leicester has been leading the chase for Ounahi’s signature, offering around £20million to Angers, his current Ligue 1 club.

The 22-year-old’s impressive World Cup performance, where he helped Morocco reach the semi-finals, has catapulted him into the spotlight. His potential arrival at Leicester could signal the departure of Youri Tielemans, who has been linked to Newcastle United. Ounahi’s signing would be a remarkable coup for Leicester, bolstering their midfield with his creativity and skill.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour had urged his former club to pursue Ounahi, but it appears Leicester is now in the driver’s seat to secure his services. Ounahi’s journey to prominence began in 2021 when he joined Angers, following stints at Avranches and Strasbourg B.

He made his senior debut for Morocco in 2022, quickly establishing himself as a key player with 17 appearances and two goals, including a brace against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
