In a remarkable development for the automotive industry, Fiat has announced that it will begin manufacturing vehicles in the UK for the first time.

This marks a strategic move to expand Fiat’s production capabilities and cater to both UK and European markets. The vehicles will be produced in both right- and left-hand drive versions, addressing the needs of diverse customer bases.

The Fiat Professional Scudo will maintain its production in Hordain, France. This facility will continue to manufacture the battery-electric e-Scudo, ensuring that all markets have access to this eco-friendly version of the vehicle.

The French plant’s dedication to electric vehicle production underscores Fiat’s commitment to sustainability and the growing demand for zero-emission transport solutions.

Meanwhile, the Luton plant will remain a hub for the production of internal combustion engine variants of several light commercial vehicles (LCVs). This includes the Vauxhall Vivaro, Opel Vivaro, Citroën Jumpy, Citroën Dispatch, and Peugeot Expert.

These models have been key players in the LCV segment and will continue to be produced to meet ongoing demand. Luton’s continued operations highlight the plant’s importance in Fiat’s broader manufacturing strategy, ensuring a steady supply of popular internal combustion LCVs.

This move signifies Fiat’s commitment to strengthening its production footprint and adapting to market needs. By manufacturing in the UK, Fiat is poised to respond more swiftly to local market demands and logistical challenges posed by Brexit. The expansion into the UK is not just a testament to Fiat’s growth but also a nod to the UK’s enduring importance in the automotive sector.

The continuation of e-Scudo production in France highlights Fiat’s dedication to electric vehicle development, aligning with global trends towards sustainable automotive solutions.

With the dual focus on expanding UK operations and sustaining electric vehicle production in France, Fiat is well-positioned to meet the diverse needs of its customers across Europe.
