When the Eagles propose a lucrative contract extension for quarterback Jalen Hurts this offseason, projected at around $40 million annually, he may find the signing bonus quite handy to offset the hefty costs of Super Bowl LVII tickets he may have charged to his credit cards.
Of course, this is a jest, but in reality, covering the expenses of bringing family and friends to the Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, is no small feat. The price of tickets, often running into the tens of thousands, far exceeds the costs of flights and accommodations. This raises an interesting question: How valuable are those distant cousins to you?
Each player and coach from both the Eagles and Chiefs is allocated two complimentary tickets, plus an additional 13 tickets available for purchase at face value. The cost of these tickets varies depending on their location: upper-deck seats are less expensive compared to premium lower bowl seats near the 50-yard line.
Although the NFL no longer publishes ticket prices, historical data from Super Bowl LII indicates that the lowest-priced seat was $950. This was during the Eagles’ first Super Bowl win five years ago.
Players needing more than 15 tickets must either purchase them from fellow players or turn to the secondary market, where prices are subject to demand fluctuations. It’s noteworthy that Eagles fans, known for their strong traveling support, could potentially drive up ticket prices for their favorite players.
Tickets to the Super Bowl are not available to the general public. The NFL controls the distribution of all tickets, allocating them to teams and reserving a portion for sponsors, VIPs, and celebrities. State Farm Stadium, which has a maximum capacity of 73,000, will accommodate around 70,000 spectators after accounting for press boxes and other logistical needs.
The Eagles are estimated to receive approximately 12,000 tickets, though this number diminishes when accounting for coaching staff, front office personnel, and sponsors.
The host team traditionally receives 5% of the tickets, while each non-participating team gets 1.2%.
Fans can also access Super Bowl tickets through On Location, VividSeats, StubHub, Ticketsmarter, and Ticketmaster. According to VividSeats, ticket prices for the game range from $4,438 to a staggering $35,841.
