Clarification on Mia Yim’s New Ring Name from Behind the Scenes

Mia Yim (WWE)

The issue surrounding Mia Yim’s name in WWE has been a subject of confusion since her return. WWE has been inconsistent with her ring name, causing announcers to alternate between “Mia Yim” and “Michin.”

On this week’s “Raw,” Corey Graves referred to her as Mia Yim, while her entrance featured “Michin” on the Titantron and the ringside announcer used the combined “Michin Mia Yim.” Bayley, her opponent, addressed her simply as “Michin.”

The Confusion Over Mia Yim’s Ring Name in WWE Has Persisted Since Her Comeback (WWE)

Despite the on-screen ambiguity, Fightful reports that backstage, Yim is officially recognized only by the name “Michin.” The wrestler, born Stephanie Lee, has used various ring names throughout her career.

Initially known as “Jade” during her time with IMPACT Wrestling in the mid-2010s, she first used “Mia Yim” when starting her wrestling career at 18, and continued to use it during her first WWE stint from 2018 to late 2021. She retained the name on the independent circuit, including in IMPACT.

Karl Anderson introduced the nickname “Michin” when Yim rejoined WWE and aligned with The O.C. She explained to Cathy Kelley that it means “crazy” in Korean, calling it a nickname.

WWE initially adopted “Michin” on their website but later reverted to “Mia Yim.” Currently, her online profile lists her as “Mia Yim,” even though backstage she is known as “Michin.”
