Mercedes-Benz is enhancing the GLA compact SUV with various innovations and more comprehensive standard equipment. The new radiator grille, featuring vertical slats and a horizontal fin, accentuates its robust design, while the subtly defined power domes on the bonnet add to its bold appearance.
The revamped front bumper, with visual underride protection, emphasizes the GLA’s off-road capabilities. The updated standard LED High-Performance headlights and LED rear lights offer a modernized light signature. Mercedes-Benz also introduces a new Spectral Blue paint color and four additional wheel designs.
In its base configuration, the new GLA comes with 17-inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels in high-gloss black with high-gloss turned surfaces. Optional wheel sizes range from 18 to 20 inches.
The interior has seen outstanding upgrades, including a free-standing double screen featuring a 7-inch display for the instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch display for the multimedia system as standard.
Optional dual 10.25-inch widescreen displays are available, providing a high-tech and open-plan feel. The steering wheel is upholstered in leather as standard, with ARTICO synthetic leather as an alternative. The AMG Line offers a heated steering wheel rim for the first time.
Simplified Offer Logic With Enhanced Standard Equipment The new GLA now features comfortable seats upholstered in ARTICO synthetic leather and 3D-embossed fabric in black, with sage grey as an optional color. The Progressive variant offers three interior color options: black, macchiato beige, and sage grey.
The AMG Line includes standard ARTICO synthetic leather/microfiber MICROCUT seats, now available in Bahia brown. Four upholstery colors are available in the AMG Line: black, Bahia brown, sage grey, and a new red pepper and black combination.
The comfort seat fabric is made from 100% recycled materials, while the ARTICO/MICROCUT seat cover includes 65% recycled content in the seat mirror and 85% in the bottom fabric.
Mercedes-Benz has seriously enhanced the GLA’s standard equipment, aligning it more closely with specific customer preferences. Standard features now include a leather steering wheel, LED front headlights, Highbeam Assist, a backup camera, and the USB package.
The Parking and Mirror packages are included from the Progressive variant onward. Additional functional equipment is grouped into packages based on customer behavior, while design features such as colors, upholstery, trim, and wheels can be individually configured.
Latest Mbux Generation With Intuitive Operation and Adaptive Software The GLA now boasts the latest MBUX generation, featuring newly designed display styles: “Classic” for essential driver information, “Sporty” with a dynamic rev counter, and “Discreet” for minimalistic displays.
Customization options include three modes—Navigation, Assistance, and Services—along with ten Ambient Light color worlds. All previous functions, such as Media, Phone, and Vehicle, remain accessible and can be controlled via the touchscreen or steering wheel finger pads.
The telematics system has been redesigned for improved performance and includes wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The GLA now has an additional USB-C port and increased USB charging power, with all USB ports illuminated.
By activating online services in the Mercedes Me app, the intelligent voice assistant becomes more capable, learning the driver’s typical settings and routes and suggesting personalized functions tailored to the driving situation.
Specific actions can be triggered without saying “Hey, Mercedes.” The voice assistant can explain vehicle functions, and the “Tourguide” feature offers travel information along German motorways. The optional Burmester® surround sound system now includes Dolby Atmos for an immersive audio experience, enhancing music clarity and depth.
Digital Extra: New Mini-Games A new digital feature in the GLA, available through the optional individualization package for Mercedes Connect services, is a selection of mini-games for the touchscreens and steering wheel controls. Games like Sudoku, Shuffle Puck, Pairs, Match 3, and a quiz can be played to pass the time during stops or waits.
The new GLA models also feature advanced safety assistance. The upgraded Driving Assistance package offers more comfortable Lane Keeping Assist with Active Steering Control.
The next-generation Parking package supports longitudinal parking and provides 360-degree visualization for camera-assisted parking. Trailer Maneuvering Assist is also available for the GLA, aiding reverse maneuvers with camera support, requiring the trailer hitch with ESP® trailer stabilization and the Parking Package with a 360-degree camera.
Expanded Range of Electrified Drive Options To reduce consumption and emissions, all petrol engines in the new GLA are now electrified, including four-cylinder units with standard seven- or eight-speed DCT dual-clutch transmissions.
Mild hybrids feature a 48-volt onboard power supply and a belt-driven starter generator, offering an extra 10 kW of power for improved agility during starts or quick boosts.
The starter generator also enhances comfort by enabling coasting with the engine off and recuperating energy during braking and acceleration to power the 12-volt onboard network and 48-volt battery.
