Aston Martin Starts Year-Long Celebration for 110 Years of Excellence

On Sunday, January 15, Aston Martin commemorates a remarkable milestone—110 years since founders Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford established their partnership to create the inaugural Aston Martin automobile.

This date signifies the beginning of over a century of automotive excellence, marked by British ingenuity, high-speed racing achievements, and groundbreaking design.

From its modest origins in a small London workshop on Henniker Mews, Aston Martin has evolved into a globally recognized automotive brand celebrated for its innovative designs, luxurious craftsmanship, and exhilarating performance. What began as a racing passion has grown into a legacy of exclusivity and high-octane success.

To celebrate this significant anniversary, Aston Martin has released a series of evocative photographs showcasing two of its most groundbreaking models from different eras. These images highlight the brand’s ongoing quest to redefine performance and integrate advanced engineering techniques from racing into its road cars.

Among the featured models is the legendary 1923 Razor Blade, one of the oldest surviving racing cars from Aston Martin’s early years. Paired with the modern Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar, the Razor Blade exemplifies the company’s historical and contemporary commitment to pushing automotive boundaries.

The Razor Blade, remarkable for its aerodynamic design and Aston Martin Grand Prix specification engine, set numerous records at Brooklands in 1923, just a year after the brand’s Grand Prix debut with the TT1, affectionately known as ‘Green Pea’.

A century later, the Valkyrie embodies the latest advancements in Formula One engineering, representing the next generation of Aston Martin’s high-performance vehicles.

To honor its 110-year legacy, Aston Martin will introduce a new, limited-edition model later this year. This milestone will also be highlighted at major events including the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, under a global campaign titled ‘Intensity: 110 Years in the Making’.

Looking forward to 2023, Aston Martin is set to reveal its next generation of sports cars, further emphasizing its dedication to ultra-luxury, high performance, and driving exhilaration.

Amedeo Felisa, CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda, remarked: “The vision of Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford in 1913 was to blend racing prowess with innovative engineering. Today, we continue this legacy by pushing the boundaries of automotive technology and performance.”
