Mets Cut Ties with Pitcher Taken from Yankees: Will He Go Back?

Initially perceived as a jab at their rivals, the Mets picked Yankees’ right-handed reliever Zach Greene with the 27th general selection in the Rule 5 Draft at the 2022 MLB Winter Meetings.

A year has passed, and now the Mets have opted to place Greene on outright waivers, as reported by MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. Should no other team claim him, the Mets will need to offer him back to the Yankees for $50,000.
