Smart Mobility Technology (Auve Tech)

During a remarkable move to bolster innovative transportation technologies, EDC formally uncovered its latest collaboration during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2022 and 2023.

This partnership with Auve Tech, a leading Estonian developer of autonomous transport solutions, marks the launch of the first autonomous vehicle trials in the Middle East.

The partnership introduces Auve Tech’s groundbreaking MiCa self-driving buses to the region, which are designed to operate on either electricity or hydrogen.

These state-of-the-art buses integrate advanced European autonomous driving systems with top-tier safety features and sustainable technologies, aiming to raise Abu Dhabi’s mobility infrastructure.

The MiCa buses are engineered for optimal safety and functionality across various weather and traffic conditions. They are accessible for People of Determination, equipped with robust air conditioning, and offer seating for up to eight passengers.

EDC will use its comprehensive training facility to develop a technical case study that will support smart mobility initiatives in Abu Dhabi, collaborating with ITC and other strategic partners.

This initiative also aligns with EDC’s broader strategy to integrate Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) technologies, focusing on enhancing customer service through these cutting-edge solutions.

The MiCa shuttle buses, which can run up to nine hours per charge and travel at speeds of 25 km/h, utilize seven LiDAR sensors and ten cameras to ensure 360-degree visibility.

Having been deployed in 13 countries worldwide, the new partnership represents EDC’s ongoing dedication to advancing intelligent mobility systems and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a leader in sustainable urban development.

H.E. Mr. Jaan Reinhold, the Republic of Estonia’s Ambassador to the UAE, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Smart mobility is a key area where Estonia seeks to offer its solutions to UAE partners.

With Dubai preparing to host COP28 and ITS World Congress, we are excited about the potential of Auvetech’s collaboration with EDC to drive forward these important initiatives.”
