It seems inevitable that Aaron Rodgers will end up with the Jets once the trade details with the Green Bay Packers are finalized, but their backup strategy might still involve a move within the AFC East.
Lamar Jackson, who became a restricted free agent after the Baltimore Ravens placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on him earlier this month, could attract attention from teams in need of a top-tier quarterback this offseason.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler mentioned on SportsCenter over the weekend that the Jets might consider Jackson as an alternative if their efforts to acquire Rodgers fall through, according to the New York Post.
However, even if the Jets secure Rodgers, Jackson could still end up within their division, potentially with the New England Patriots. Fowler suggested that the Patriots, along with the Tennessee Titans, are “wild card” contenders for signing the Louisville standout.
Fowler noted, “Teams that prefer a strong running game might be interested. You never know.”
