In a distinguished accolade celebrating the best in automotive excellence, the Citroën C5 X has been honored with the title of ‘Best Large Car’ by the Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY).

Founded in 2009 by Sandy Myhre, the WWCOTY jury was established to harness the unique perspectives of women in the automotive industry, providing a platform for them to voice their evaluations of new car models.

Historically, women have often played a remarkable yet frequently overlooked role in car purchasing decisions.

They possess an intrinsic understanding of a vehicle’s strengths and shortcomings, offering a nuanced perspective that goes beyond mere consumer choice.

The WWCOTY’s all-female panel, comprising 63 automotive journalists from 45 countries spanning five continents, undertakes the formidable task of selecting the finest vehicles across six categories.

These categories include large cars, performance cars, urban cars, large SUVs, 4X4s, and family SUVs, with each winner embodying the pinnacle of safety, driving pleasure, comfort, technology, design, efficiency, environmental stewardship, and value for money.

The Citroën C5 X has emerged victorious in the ‘Best Large Car’ category, a testament to its superior qualities.

The C5 X will now advance to the final stage of the WWCOTY awards, where it will compete against winners from the other categories for the coveted top prize, to be revealed on March 8, International Women’s Day.

Since its debut in 2021, the C5 X has quickly established itself as a flagship model for Citroën, with over 45,000 units delivered globally within its first year.

In Europe, it leads the D-segment mainstream sedan category, reflecting its remarkable appeal.

The C5 X is celebrated for its seamless blend of sedan elegance, estate versatility, and SUV robustness, all while providing unparalleled comfort through Citroën’s Advanced Comfort seats and Active Suspension technology.

It also offers advanced onboard technologies, including an Extended Head-Up Display and the new MyCitroën Drive Plus system, which features a 12-inch touch screen and natural speech recognition.

However, the C5 X supports Citroën’s commitment to energy efficiency with its Hybrid 180 ë-EAT8 and Hybrid 225 ë-EAT8 models, the latter already comprising 60% of the C5 X lineup.

This recognition not only underscores the C5 X’s impressive attributes but also highlights the growing influence of women in shaping the future of the automotive world.
