Giants Expected to Choose WR in 2023 NFL Draft to Boost Arsenal, Ex-GM Predicts

New York Giants (NFL)

The Giants’ 2022 season was marked by remarkable achievements, including a divisional round playoff appearance under new head coach Brian Daboll, despite roster shortcomings.

This offseason has focused on addressing these gaps, with a former NFL executive predicting continued efforts in the upcoming draft. According to Mike Tannenbaum’s ESPN mock draft, the Giants will select Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt with the 25th pick.

The team’s receiving corps struggled last season, with Darius Slayton leading the group with just 724 yards. Despite re-signing key players and adding free agents, the Giants still need a standout receiver.

Jalin Hyatt, who excelled in Tennessee’s offense under Josh Heupel, could fill this void. Although slightly undersized, Hyatt boasts speed and impressive stats, including 67 catches for 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.

His career day against Alabama, with five touchdowns and 207 yards, showcases his potential. General manager Joe Schoen has addressed the receiver corps by signing free agents and re-signing key players, but remains open to trading for a receiver or potentially reuniting with Odell Beckham. Even without prominent names, the Giants feel more confident about their receivers.
