Another Controversial Lawsuit Adds to the Dallas Cowboys’ Never-Ending Drama

The Cowboys haven’t been this involved in controversy since the days of “Gunsmoke.” As Michael Irvin’s $100 million lawsuit against Marriott over Super Bowl week continues, the Dallas Cowboys are facing another legal issue. The woman who claims Jerry Jones is her father has now filed a defamation lawsuit against the team owner.

On Monday, a 26-year-old woman filed a federal defamation suit against Jerry Jones, his longtime Arkansas associate, and a Cowboys spokesperson. The suit alleges that these individuals orchestrated a campaign to portray her as an “extortionist” and “shakedown artist” motivated solely by money and greed.

Alexandra Davis, a Congressional aide, previously sought recognition as Jones’ daughter in a lawsuit filed last year. In that case, she claimed Jones had paid her $375,000 and established two trusts to hide his paternity. According to the new lawsuit, after Davis’ filing in March 2022, Jones and his associates launched a public campaign to damage her reputation with false claims.

Davis’ latest legal action, filed in federal court in Texarkana, Texas, names Jones, his longtime lawyer Donald T. Jack Jr., and communications consultant Jim Wilkinson as defendants. She is seeking both actual and punitive damages.

In a statement to ESPN, Davis expressed that her original lawsuit aimed solely at getting Jones to “acknowledge” his fatherhood. “Instead of recognizing me as his child or making an effort to connect with me, my father and his associates have tarnished my reputation and intentions,” Davis said.

“I have been falsely accused of ‘shakedown’ and ‘extortion.’ My true desire is simply to acknowledge my father without fear of retaliation. I refuse to let my father’s actions or words define my future.”
