The World Rally-Raid Championship’s return to the UAE later this month promises to be a motorsport classic, especially given the spotlight on the car that has been making headlines with its record-breaking performance this year.
Sebastien Loeb’s six consecutive stage victories in the recent Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, driving a Prodrive Hunter, surpassed the event’s 34-year-old record previously held by rally legend Ari Vatanen.
Prodrive Hunters claimed victory in nine of the 14 stages in the opening round of the W2RC, and Loeb’s impressive performance earned him and Bahrain Raid Xtreme the championship lead heading into the second round, the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, scheduled from February 26 to March 3.
It’s no surprise that the nine-time World Rally Champion is eager to get back in action in the UAE, where a street-legal version of the Prodrive Hunter is now available for driving on both roads and desert terrain.
Feedback from Loeb and his BRX co-driver, Fabian Lurquin, has been instrumental in the development of the new road-going Hunter, the world’s first all-terrain hypercar.
A limited number of these vehicles are being custom-built in the UK for select supercar enthusiasts. The Hunter is a 600 bhp, four-wheel drive car with 50% more power than its rally counterpart, establishing BRX as the team to beat in the Desert Challenge and throughout the W2RC series.
