The latest episode of AEW Dynamite began with a tribute graphic for Briscoe, and several wrestlers wore “Jay” armbands during their matches.
As previously mentioned, Warner Bros. Discovery prevented AEW from producing a full tribute show for Briscoe due to homophobic tweets he made over ten years ago.
This restriction has also affected Briscoe’s previous appearances on AEW programming, despite his multiple public apologies for those tweets.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW President Tony Khan had made several efforts in 2022 to include the Briscoes on AEW TV.
