Russell Gage of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Released from Hospital Following Injury in Monday Night’s Game

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Russell Gage was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday after suffering an injury during the NFL Wild-Card playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.

The injury occurred with 2:55 remaining in the fourth quarter at Raymond James Stadium. Gage took a hit to the neck on a second down play, leading him to collapse on the field and remain unable to move.

The game was halted temporarily while medical personnel attended to Gage. Postgame, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles revealed that Gage had sustained a concussion and would be assessed for possible neck injuries.

Bowles noted that while Gage’s fingers were observed moving, there was no immediate information about the movement of his other limbs.

On Tuesday, the team updated that all medical evaluations returned normal except for the concussion. Gage was seen moving his legs during the on-field treatment and was later placed on a stretcher and carted off.

This incident follows the recent cardiac arrest of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who collapsed after a tackle during a Monday night game two weeks earlier. Hamlin, who required on-field resuscitation, has since been released from the hospital.
